Truth

Truth

Truth was put on trial about two thousand years ago and was judged by those who were committed to lies. Truth was arrested and first taken to Annas, a corrupt and deposed Jewish high priest. Numerous Jewish laws were broken during this trial. Truth had not been convicted of any crime but was tried in the home of Annas, was attempted to be persuaded to self-accuse, and was illegally struck by one of the officers.

Then Truth was sent bound to the current Jewish high priest, Caiaphas, who was the son-in-law of Annas. Truth stood before Caiaphas and the Jewish Sanhedrin as many false witnesses came to speak against Truth. However, none of their testimonies agreed and nothing was found to incriminate Truth. Caiaphas broke a number of Jewish laws that night; The trial was held in secret, it was held at night, bribery was involved, there was no one there to defend Truth, 2-3 witnesses with the same testimony were not present, and they carried out the death penalty the same day. Truth claimed to be God manifest in the flesh (Luke 22:70; John 1:14 NKJV) and for that was accused by Caiaphas of being a blasphemer and therefore worthy of death. The Jewish Sanhedrin could not legally carry out a death sentence and were forced to take Truth to the Roman governor, Pontius Pilate.

Then Pilate entered the Praetorium again, called Jesus, and said to Him, “Are You the King of the Jews?”
Jesus answered him, “Are you speaking for yourself about this, or did others tell you this concerning Me?
Pilate answered, “Am I a Jew? Your own nation and the chief priests have delivered You to me. What have You done?”
Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but now My kingdom is not from here.
Pilate therefore said to Him, “Are You a king then?”
Jesus answered, “You say rightly that I am a king. For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.
Pilate said to Him, “What is truth?” And when he had said this, he went out again to the Jews, and said to them, “I find no fault in Him at all. (John 18:33-38 NKJV)

Prior to that, Jesus was speaking to Thomas…

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him. (John 14:6-7 NKJV)
